About the role
Are you an experienced surveyor passionate about improving housing standards? Do you want to play a key role in shaping our investment strategy? If so, we want to hear from you!
As a Stock Condition Surveyor, you will be responsible for assessing the condition of council homes and associated assets, ensuring they meet the Decent Homes Standard and comply with Health & Safety regulations. Your findings will guide the Capital Investment Programme and help us provide excellent services to our residents using a survey data led Asset Management Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive stock condition surveys and update the council’s system.
- Assess and report on the age and lifespan of key building components (e.g., roofs, windows, kitchens, and bathrooms).
- Carry out Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections and ensure Category 1 hazards are promptly addressed.
- Conduct energy efficiency surveys to support the council’s sustainability goals.
- Validate data provided by external surveyors and ensure information integrity.
- Prepare reports with diagnoses of defects and recommend remedial actions.
- Develop specifications for small projects (up to £100k).

Role Specific Qualifications:
You will have a degree or diploma in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related field.
