The H&F Corporate National Graduate Development Programme (NGDP)

The National Graduate Development Programme (NGDP) is a fast-track graduate programme for passionate individuals who want to make a difference while excelling in their own careers. It offers the chance to work directly with communities, but also to influence policies and plans at a senior level within a local authority. All while earning a graduate salary and completing our Council-specific leadership and management qualification.


Graduates will have two years to influence some of society’s biggest challenges, from social care and housing to education and the environment, while training to be one of local government’s next generation of leaders. It is the only national graduate programme specifically for local government and at H&F we hire on average 6 graduates each year, with over 250 places being recruited to nationally.


As an H&F Graduate you will support with the strategic development, and day to day project and operational management of four different placements over the 2-year trainee programme.  You will also study for a postgraduate-level qualification from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This is a varied and prestigious programme which has a high record of success placing graduates in positions of management in local government upon completion of the scheme. Housing, Climate Change, Social Care, Equality & Diversity are just some of the wide range of council services that our H&F graduates have made a significant impact in.


To apply you’ll need a minimum 2:2 undergraduate degree in any subject by summer 2024 and have the right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship.


We are looking for H&F resident or care leaver apply now through the local application process to recruit as many local residents as possible. Local application will progress in the same timeframe as the NGDP’s national campaign and will be assessed alongside national candidates. The NGDP facilitates the assessment of all nominated local candidates in line with national candidates to ensure they meet the same standard.


By applying as a local candidate for our local authority, successful applicants who reach the final stage of the recruitment process will be guaranteed an interview with us during (or after) April 2024.

 

The H&F Finance NGDP

The NGDP Finance Graduate Scheme is a specialised stream within the National Graduate Development Program designed for graduates who want to pursue a career in public finance. It offers a unique and tailored development pathway into local government and other public services for aspiring finance professionals.


The four-year programme is geared towards developing graduates with a passion for finance and communities into future local government and public sector leaders, helping them gain practical work experience while studying for the CIPFA Level 7 Apprenticeship, which includes The Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy’s Professional Accountancy Qualification (CIPFA PAQ), which is the key qualification for anyone pursuing a career in public finance management.


The scheme is open to graduates of all disciplines interested in kickstarting their careers and becoming future leaders in public finance. To apply, you’ll need a minimum 2:2 degree, GCSE Maths and English (Level 4 or above) and have the right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship.
