Supported Internships

The Council’s commitment to social mobility focuses on removing barriers and creating employment opportunities to achieve independent living.

In collaboration with West London College and Action on Disability we are proud to host the Supported Internship Programme for students with SEND, working with partners across the borough to provide placements across sectors and industries.

The Level 1 course is designed to develop transferable skills, knowledge and attitudes in readiness for paid employment. Students will develop their employability skills through customer service, building confidence and enhancing their digital skills whilst working alongside colleagues in a real employment setting.

Students are supported to develop their work skills with Job Coaches and workplace Mentors. Academic studies will include Maths and English which will be supported by a Tutor from the college. During the programme students will complete three job rotations over the academic year.

During the programme all students will receive expert advice and guidance that will prepare them for their future and this will continue beyond the programme and into their future paid employment.

These courses run from September each year, and applications open every May.
