About the role

The Early Years Team in Children’s Services are looking for a highly motivated, experienced officer to fulfil the Teams role in principally managing the early years funding offers.  


The role will focus  on the programme to deliver funded nursery education to the most vulnerable 2 year olds and ensure the 3 and 4 year old funding is run effectively, achieving targets and maximising value for participating families.  


You will be expected to liaise closely with the Children’s Service Finance Team including the Head of Finance to ensure that the statutory early years entitlements and other offers are delivered in line with national and local expectations and that delivery of the programmes are effectively communicated with providers


The Early Years Team are looking for the ideal candidate who can demonstrate a range of skills essential for the role. These include:

 

  • Proven experience of working in an Early Years Team within a Local Authority
  • An understanding of the Early Years Sector and the Government Finance Programmes
  • A working knowledge of the regulations which govern funded nursery education
  • Extensive experience of the Early Years Finance processes including payment schedules, establishing estimated and actual payments, arranging for and supporting headcount dates and portal administration
  • The ability to communicate all finance directives to the sector in a concise and easily accessible way
  • Follow the Department for Education and H&F Council’s processes when establishing childcare provision for a range of targeted young children
  • Be able to offer advice and guidance to colleagues and early years providers as and when required
  • To collect and collate data and produce reports on funded childcare provision across the Borough

Role Specific Qualifications:

  • A Degree or relevant experience and a A level 4 qualification in early years or business support
