The Environment

We work closely with members to deliver on our ambitious plans to reform the council, ensuring this is a place for everybody.

Keeping people safe is a fundamental role of the Council. We have implemented a Law Enforcement Team (LET), as well as launching the flagship Gangs, Violence and Exploitation Unit (GVEU) to protect young people from gangs and serious violence.  We have also campaigned to raise awareness of violence against women and girls and delivered important work to tackle Hate Crime and prevent radicalisation.

In July 2019 we declared a climate emergency in recognition of the catastrophic damage human activities are having on our planet. H&F’s Climate and Ecology Strategy sets out the route to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 for the borough. It envisions a clean and sustainable future in which human activity works to the benefit of all people and the environment. It seeks a safe climate for future generations, along with rich ecosystems that support people and nature, and the best possible health wellbeing and quality of life for all our residents.
