London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Children's Services

Children's services

In H&F we strive to be a place where every child has the best possible start in life, grows up feeling cherished, loved and realises their full potential as young citizens. We are committed to providing the right support at the right time to enable our families and communities to be safe and healthy and for our children to thrive.

Our Systemic Practice model is well established, placing emphasis on relationships as key to supporting change for families. We nurture relationships that are respectful, collaborative and empowering with our families, supported by our highly skilled Clinical team, networks and partner agencies, focusing on the whole family system rather than individuals.

Following our focused visit in 2022, OFSTED reported that some “exemplary practice was seen” with “strong, aspirational leaders creating a culture of continuous learning where staff report they feel highly valued.”

“Highly capable social workers work hard to understand parental vulnerabilities and fully consider the trauma adults have experienced. Nevertheless, the need for children to be safe and cared for are uppermost in their analysis and final recommendations”

Amana Gordon, Operational Director, Children and Young People Services,

“We are committed to investing and developing our workforce to build confident practitioners in an environment where there is opportunity to reflect and learn. We are dedicated to the emotional wellbeing of our workforce and support practitioners through supervision, providing clinical support and our recently launched vicarious trauma workshops.”

“I’ve never worked in a local authority where there has been so much effort from senior managers to remain connected with frontline practitioners and support them.”
