Salary: Scale 5/6, £27,789 - £32,772 per annum

 

Hours: 37 hours per week

 

Contract: Permanent

This is a challenging, yet incredibly rewarding role, offering you the chance to make the difference and help to reduce Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and protect all victims of the most serious sexual offences.

 

The Amberstone Team is undergoing rapid development supported by Operation Soteria Bluestone (sharepoint.com), a national programme committed to improving our response to Rape and Sexual Violence. Over the next few months, positive changes will be introduced providing opportunities for you to become a trauma informed sexual victim liaison specialist.

 

In this role you will be working with victims of rape and your duties will include making initial visits, safeguarding, referrals, video recorded interviews and updates to victims of one of the most serious offences. You will also be involved in rape suspect interviews

 

The key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

 

1. Collect and gather material, intelligence and evidence from a range of sources (including volume and priority crime reports, victims, witnesses, suspects and other sources of material) and record and retain it in a format that is evidentially admissible to support the investigative process.

 

2. Identify and plan own investigative actions, taking into account resources, priorities, and proportionality in order to pursue all reasonable lines of enquiry whether they point towards or away from a suspect to achieve investigatory objectives.

 

3. Interview witnesses and suspects, applying appropriate interviewing principles and techniques to gather all required information, intelligence and evidence within the criminal law and the legal framework to help bring offenders to justice.

Essential Qualifications

Competent Investigator PIP1 (Successful completion of applicable entry training and undertake training to achieve Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP) level 1 accreditation).

Essential Experience

Demonstrable experience of complex information gathering and problem solving.

 

A detailed understanding of the criminal justice system.

 

Knowledge and understanding of applicable College Guidance
