Applications are invited for the post of PIP 2 Police Staff Investigators on the Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) based in Basingstoke.

 

The team is made up of a mixture of Detective Constables, Police Constables and Police Staff Investigators (PSIs) and supervised by Detective Sergeants and a Detective Inspector.

 

As a Police Staff Investigator on the team you will develop your investigation skills, intelligence development and tackle serious and organised crime. You will be supported by experienced peers. You will be working towards team goals and you will take on different roles depending on the crime under investigation including the role of officer in case and disclosure officer. 

 

We support the major crime team and the wider force on dynamic aspects of their investigation, which require a wide range of investigative techniques.

 

As a PIP2 PSI you would play a key role as part of the team working towards reducing harm to our communities and enabling successful court outcomes.

There is a shift pattern which requires working 1 weekend in 3, which sometimes involves late shifts over the duration of the weekend.

 

There is an occasional request for flexibility, but there is a strong supervisory focus on wellbeing, with the team maintaining a good work / life balance. Due to the nature of the role plain clothing is worn.

 

Police Staff Investigators have the option to take on "call out" duties which attract a nightly allowance, in accordance with force policies and procedures. In the event of a call out you will be working alongside a team of four or five including Detective Sergeant, Detective Inspector and force Senior Investigating Officer and will play a key role in this specialist area. However, this is not mandatory and applications are welcomed from those unable to fulfil this aspect.
