About Us:
THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF MOHAMMED’S INSPIRATIONAL JOURNEY
As the educational arm of Westminster City Council, Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) is a world of extraordinary stories. From ESOL, English, Maths and Digital to Accounting, Community Learning, Childcare and Teaching and Languages to the Creative Arts and Culture, WAES’s courses offer unparalleled opportunities to grow, develop and acquire new skills. People like Mohammed work to inspire our residents to achieve their goals and enrich their lives through a huge range of stimulating and transformative learning experiences.
When he was 16 Mohammed came to London from a small town in the south of France and dived straight into the world of work. Once he’d found his feet and established himself, he decided he wanted to do some volunteering work and give something back to the community that had supported him on his first steps in the big city, so he approached WAES. They offered him a couple of hours a week for a few months, and he enjoyed it so much that when a temporary job in HR became available, he applied for it and was successful.
Fast forward a few years, and Mohammed is now working as a Funding and Compliance Manager, full time in the Management Information System department, and using his experience to encourage and inspire a new generation of Westminster citizens. As a member of the Kurdish community, he knows how difficult it can be to develop the skills, learnings and confidence to establish yourself in a new environment and is committed to sharing the story of his amazing journey, using it to illustrate how WAES can be a catalyst for positive growth and change.
Mohammed sees potential in everyone he meets, and is dedicated to encouraging people to grasp the opportunities they’re offered with both hands. And WAES is at the heart of Westminster’s commitment to helping everyone in our diverse communities to achieve their potential and transform their lives.

The Role:
As a Web Design Tutor, you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster’s success. Delivering inspiring teaching and learning experiences, you can help adult learners build confidence, creativity and real-world digital skills. Through your work, you will support learners from across London to develop their web design capabilities and take meaningful steps towards employment, further study or launching their own creative ventures.
You will plan and deliver engaging teaching, learning and assessment across the web design provision, creating a supportive and inclusive environment where learners feel motivated to grow. By tracking and monitoring learner progress in line with service requirements, you will help maximise outcomes and ensure individuals receive the right support at the right time.
A key part of your role will be assessing learners in line with qualification specifications and awarding body requirements, maintaining high standards while creating opportunities for success. Alongside this, you will provide tailored advice, guidance and support that helps learners progress, build confidence and explore new pathways within the digital and creative industries.
You will work closely with Managers and Course Leaders to help the service achieve its targets, contributing insight on learner progress and programme delivery. In a role that brings variety and visible impact, you will help deliver a transformative education experience – inspiring adult learners and making a genuine difference through the power of digital skills.
Please refer to the Job Description for more information.
About You:
You’ll have recent experience teaching in a post-16, further education or adult learning setting, with a genuine passion for helping people build confidence and practical skills. Creating inclusive, supportive environments, you enjoy seeing adult learners grow in confidence and capability over time.
You’re comfortable using online tools and Virtual Learning Environments to support learning, or open to building your confidence in this space. A strong command of written and spoken English, along with solid IT skills, means you can communicate clearly and adapt your approach to suit learners with different needs and backgrounds.
You may already hold an assessor award such as A1 or TAQA, or be willing to work towards one, demonstrating your commitment to high-quality teaching and assessment. A recognised teaching qualification at Level 3 and a relevant subject specialism at Level 3 or above will also help you be successful in this role.
But what really sets you apart is your motivation to make a difference. Helping people thrive, build confidence and access new opportunities matters to you. You’ll value being part of a supportive, values-driven team where collaboration and encouragement are part of everyday life, and where your contribution is recognised as you continue to grow in your own role.
