The Role:

As a Support Officer in the Regeneration, Economy & Planning (REP) team, you can make your own powerful contribution by helping us deliver key projects and programmes across multiple services.

Working within the Transformation & Engagement team, you will play an instrumental role in helping us support initiatives relating to Development & Regeneration, Town Planning & Building Control, and Economy & Skills.

You will therefore be tasked with administrative and support activities that will benefit our local communities, businesses and staff. This work is hugely varied, and could extend from coordinating Director-level diaries and handling events arrangements, through to managing confidential correspondence and building relationships that will enable the successful delivery of projects. When projects hit potential stumbling blocks that could derail them, you will work quickly to flag these up with the relevant people, and make suggestions on innovative solutions.

You will also support initiatives across the wider directorate such as helping us stay on top of governance requirements, so you will be exposed to a huge array of workstreams and stakeholders. With colleagues supporting you with strategic oversight of their respective challenges, this is a fantastic learning opportunity which will provide you with a great platform on which to develop your career.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

To excel in this fast-paced challenge, you will be the type of person who takes pride in being on top of the finer details, and you will enjoy coming up with innovative solutions to complex challenges. With great communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, you will be exceptionally organised with strong administrative capabilities. Having previously worked in a similarly fast-paced environment, you will be comfortable managing diaries for senior colleagues, and we will expect you to bring a customer service focus to everything that you do.

Working with members of the public, plus key stakeholders and officers, you will be adept at fielding questions and responding to enquiries. As such you will have good verbal and written communication skills, and you will appreciate the importance of identifying issues that needs to be handled sensitively.
