About Us:

The Extraordinary Story of Kudzy’s travels.

Environmental Health at Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories, where passionate and expert professionals go above and beyond for their colleagues every day.

Kudzy knows the streets of Westminster like the back of her hand. Her office can be anywhere. Market stalls, spas, carnivals, hotels, even backstage at an Adele concert. She’s travelled more than most have in a lifetime without leaving Westminster. She’s an Environmental Health Officer like no other. But, for her, seeing the difference her work makes to communities is the real highlight. For some, it’s financial lifelines, for others it’s the open sign on the restaurant they’ve always dreamed of. For Kudzy, it’s the smiles on her customers’ faces.

The Role:

As an Environmental Health Officer in our Environmental Health Consultation Team, you can make your own powerful contribution to communities across Westminster. This is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills and use them proactively to make a difference in an iconic city. You’ll enjoy a role that’s full of variety and challenge, as you help us tackle a wide range of environmental health and public safety issues. Providing advice and guidance to businesses and individuals – and taking enforcement action where necessary – you’ll help people comply with regulations that keep everyone safe and well.

With a broad remit, you’ll always have something new to get to grips with – from responding to consultations relating to licensing legislation or planning applications, through to dealing with questions of food, health and safety at major events and markets, as well as handling reported noise and odour issues. Standing up for environmental health as a champion for the highest standards, you’ll present cases at licensing and planning committees, and represent the Council at external meetings such as safety advisory groups. Working at a fast pace and juggling your workload to meet deadlines, you’ll be part of a supportive team who share your passion for the difference you can make.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who has what it takes to build trusted relationships with all kinds of people. Someone with the communication skills – both in writing and person – to provide helpful environmental health advice and make change happen, to handle complaints and de-escalate conflict. You will have a demonstrable ability to plan and manage your own workload to achieve targets.

Our ideal candidate will have relevant experience or qualifications in Environmental Health.
