Hours per week: 37 - we are open to discussions about flexible working

About us

 

Do you want to make a difference for children and families and in achieving “Better Outcomes” for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Oxfordshire?  If so, we have a great opportunity to join the Start Well Commissioning Team, for a permanent position, as a Commissioning Officer, supporting the commissioning of services for children and young people with SEND.

About the role

 

You will be working with the Start Well Commissioning Team and responsible to the SEND Commissioning Manager to manage short and long-term commissioning process projects. 
You will be required to work with a wide variety of stakeholders and partners to assess and understand the needs of Oxfordshire children and families with special educational needs and disabilities. 
This role will involve working on projects supporting the SEND Transformation programme.
In the role you will support commissioning activities for the independent and alternative educational provisions, to ensure they are meeting planned outcomes for children and families.

About you

 

  • It is essential you have relevant knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that commissions or provides education, social care or health services.
  • We require you to have a strong commitment to improving the lives of children and families with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • You will ideally have some experience of commissioning services in social care or education and some understanding of the commissioning cycle.
  • You must have excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with a wide variety of partners, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will have experience of multi-agency working.
  • You will be skilled in report writing, good analytical skills, as well as organisational and planning skills.
  • You will have comprehensive skills set, which includes analytical approaches for assessing needs, creative thinking for service design, and evaluation techniques for monitoring outcomes.
  • You will have demonstrable experience of meeting service standards and deadlines, be well organised with excellent time management skills, and able to prioritise competing demands, be able to work on your own initiative and will be confident managing your time and setting your own priorities.
