The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time specialist role within the Primary Authority Team of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS).

HIWFRS have been the country’s leading exponent of Primary Authority since its acceptance into the fire sector in April 2014. We continue to lead the way in terms of partner numbers and diversity and our innovations within Government guidelines. All of our Partners are familiar national and international organisations. The successful applicant will be expected to work with the senior management teams of these partners, across the UK as a Primary Authority Fire Safety Officer.

You will be responsible for generating new partnership accounts and for the ongoing management of those accounts once established. This excellent opportunity will be particularly attractive to anyone seeking experience of: partnership working; working closely with other Enforcing Fire Authorities; managing and influencing change within external organisations; planning and implementing; and wider political and organisational awareness.

Applications are invited from self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work autonomously with senior managers of large businesses on a national level. A recognised fire safety qualification is essential and sector specific experience is desirable. We are seeking applicants with excellent inter-personal skills and an awareness of the ‘supportive regulation’ ethos. A high level of technical fire safety knowledge will be required when dealing with clients, as will an appreciation of the wider economic and political landscape. Additional training will be provided to the successful applicants as appropriate.
