Not a your usual nine to five

As a wholetime firefighter in Hampshire you will be working a 48-hour week across one of the following duty systems:

Shift group crewing

2-2-4 shift pattern (2 days 09:00 - 18:00, 2 nights 18:00 - 09:00, 4 days off)

Efficient flexible crewing system

Our firefighters are developing several new ways of working in a number of locations where the station decides how they can best cover the 48-hour shifts across the week

Once fully trained, wholetime firefighters are assigned a shift pattern and expected to work at any station in the county.


The current starting salary for a trainee wholetime firefighter is £22, 017 per annum, rising to £29, 345 per annum for a competent wholetime firefighter.
