Not a your usual nine to five

As a wholetime firefighter in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight you will be working a 48-hour week across one of the following duty systems:

Shift group crewing

2-2-4 shift pattern (2 days 09:00 - 18:00, 2 nights 18:00 - 09:00, 4 days off)

Efficient flexible crewing system

Our firefighters are developing several new ways of working in a number of locations where the station decides how they can best cover the 48-hour shifts across the week.

Once fully trained, wholetime firefighters are assigned a shift pattern and expected to work at any station in Hampshire or the Isle of Wight.

Pay

  • Trainee - £23,366 per annum
  • Development - £24,339 per annum
  • Competent - £31,444 per annum

Upon appointment and during your initial training course you will receive trainee rate. This will increase to development rate whilst completing your firefighter development programme at your respective station, upon successful completion of which you will receive competent rate.
