Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) have established a Corporate Services Strategic Plan which sets out the forward direction of the organisation's property estate and how this will be managed and maintained. This includes working with other public-sector organisations to share properties, embed principles of our property and estates strategy and provide first class facilities and maintenance management across the county.

 

The Property and Facilities department are looking for a Ground Maintenance Operative with experience of working within a multiskilled environment to join the team in this exciting phase of team development to deliver in house facilities management. In the role, you will work in a team of 8 across Hampshire and The Isle of Wight to help deliver grounds maintenance tasks including but not limited to grass cutting, hedge cutting, heavy pruning, strimming, soil aviation, leaf blowing/ collection, gritting, planting, or re-potting, weed spraying, tree pruning and jet washing. Other duties will include the reactive ground maintenance tasks such as but not limited to, paving resetting, fencing repairs and surface repairs. As directed by the Building Maintenance Supervisor there will be requirements on occasion to support the existing building maintenance team with general maintenance repair such as minor fabric repairs and compliance support.

 

The role includes supporting areas such as learning and development training requirements including the transportation of training resources and vehicles to the estate and satellite training venues. Deliver and collect stores, property, confidential waste, and equipment as required and defined by the Building Maintenance Supervisor. This may include moving furniture for room booking layout changes.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have appropriate experience and/or qualifications in grounds maintenance or previously worked in a fire and rescue service in a similar role. You will need to be able and willing to develop new skills and be adaptable to the business needs. Suitable training will be provided where necessary to help carry out full scope of duties.

Vetting Requirements:

This post is subject to a Standard DBS Check and Non-Police Personnel Vetting. Further information about this process will be provided to successful candidates. Candidates must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 years for the Non-Police Personnel Vetting in order for clearance to be obtained.
