Hours per week: 37
Contract Type: Temporary (6 and 12 months)

The Role:
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) is a fantastic place to work. The service provides a friendly and welcoming environment, developing people and helping them to reach their goals.
The Business Support Team provides fundamental support to other departments across HIWFRS, by providing first-class administrative and general support. There are approximately 25 administrators, within the Business Support Team. The support offered is a mix of central based and embedded support, within departments to help maintain close working relationships and to enhance department specific knowledge.
We have 2 opportunities within the Business Support Team available on a temporary basis, please state your preference on your application.
The first is a Specialist Capabilities Administrator, which will be a 6 month temporary contract. This role is supporting the Specialist Capabilities Team on a temporary basis to establish their business processes moving forward. This will mean travelling between stations across the county where these teams are based. There is an expectation of flexibility, which may include providing support to multiple departments and areas as required, to meet the changing needs of the Service and for team resilience. Travel will be required to provide general support and attend meetings, across various locations in Hampshire, including fire stations. Therefore, a full clean driving licence is essential for this role.
The second role is for CS Protection/HRRBIP Administrator, which will be a 12 month temporary contract. This role is supporting the High-Rise Risk Based Inspection Programme (HRRBIP) Team within the Protection Delivery Department on a temporary basis to support with medium-rise buildings and establish their business processes moving forward. This will require regular travel to the HRRBIP Team’s offices at St Mary’s Fire Station. This is a temporary post arising from a government grant. There is an expectation of flexibility, which may include providing support to multiple departments and areas as required, to meet the changing needs of the Service and for team resilience.
Both of these roles require a professional approach and the ability to work proactively and re-actively to pre-empt the needs of the Team. Responsibilities include diary management, attending meetings and taking minutes/actions, ordering supplies, dealing with internal uploading and maintaining electronic filing systems, dealing with sensitive data in line with GDPR. A knowledge of Microsoft systems is essential in this role. Please see further details of the administrative and general support responsibilities within the job description.
Another key requirement for both roles is the ability to work proactively, thinking forwardly in order to create and record new business processes for future use. This is an exciting opportunity in a new temporary role which is designed to understand current processes, build new ones, and play a part in protecting our communities.
This is a unique administrative role within the Business Support Team which is based at HQ, with regular travel to fire stations working alongside our front-line colleagues and therefore a full driving licence is required.
