About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF SERENA’S VISION

Growth, Planning and Housing in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where innovative and open-minded people bring everything to the cause. Even expertise from surprising places.

Take Serena. She is an absolute force of nature at the heart of our Church Street regeneration. And she puts the residents first in everything. Serena’s vision is clear. Regeneration isn’t just about bricks and concrete. It’s about communities. It’s about the environment. It’s about the lives of people and how they feel about where they call home. Serena is their advocate, making sure residents’ voices aren’t just heard, but drive the changes we’re making. The future is safe in her hands.

The Role:

As a Governance and Service Development Officer, you can make your own powerful contribution to improving outcomes for our residents. Working across a broad remit, you will focus on delivery of the Oxford Street Programme and the Adult Health and Social Care directorate’s priorities across Westminster and our neighbouring borough of Kensington & Chelsea. Specifically, you will ensure senior leaders and councillors have timely access to high-quality information to inform key decisions. You’ll also work closely with directors and key staff to prepare briefings, drive service improvement and provide oversight of service delivery. You’ll not only ensure we stay on track as we work towards our strategic goals, you will also actively support change and innovation.  It’s a great opportunity to gain exposure to senior people in the organisation and make a meaningful contribution to shaping the council’s agenda and service delivery. It’s also an ideal preparation for a future leadership role.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

Strong relationship-building skills will support your success. You must be capable of capturing the attention of senior stakeholders, communicating effectively to gain buy-in, managing conflicting interests, and developing and implementing effective change management strategies. Your ability to anticipate and mitigate potential barriers to progress will be key. We’ll also expect you to produce high-quality work within tight deadlines while staying up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in adult social care strategy and policy. Knowledge of the social care agenda would therefore be helpful. The ability to write reports and briefing papers, and to plan projects, is important. You must also possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
