About Us:

 

In Kensington and Chelsea, we manage approximately 9,500 Council homes, many of them flatted blocks which require care and attention paid to the external environment to ensure estates are clean, tidy, and safe where our residents live.

The Role:

 

You will provide and be responsible for maintaining the internal and external areas of RBKC estates and providing a clean and safe environment for the residents, their guests, employees, and other visitors.  This will involve providing floating cover for patch-based Caretakers in your team.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Ensuring communal internal and external areas including, estate roads, grassed and paved areas, courtyard/garage/forecourt/shed areas, washing line enclosures, service roads, footpaths, walkways, playgrounds, flower beds, shrubbery and other communal parts are kept clean, tidy, and safe
  • Providing courteous and efficient customer service and conduct at all times
  • Providing team cover.  Inspecting playgrounds in the Ward and ensuring keys are held securely locally and being the focal point for arranging access for contractors locally.
  • Monitoring staff timekeeping and liaising with management where operational support is required.
  • Handling resident issues efficiently and effectively
  • Reporting any hazards and standards on estates to a programme of appointments using smartphone app for this purpose.  Reporting unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the residents or communal parts of properties
  • Being responsible for the care, maintenance and inventory of all supplies and equipment owned by RBKC
  • Ensuring, as far as practicable, that activities are carried out safely under your control and in accordance with RBKC’s Health and Safety policies and procedures

 

This is a rolling advert so we will be interviewing throughout the duration of this campaign.

About You:

 

As our Senior Caretaker, we are looking for:

 

- The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, fire alarm test panels, meter readings, and the ability to write simple correspondence

- Punctual, with effective time management with a drive to complete tasks to a high standard

- A capacity to use smartphone apps, email, special equipment, materials and chemicals

- Someone with enthusiasm, tact and diplomacy who can deal with the public in various situations

- Experience of providing professional cleaning and caretaking services.

- Working knowledge of the use of chemicals (COSHH)

- Working knowledge of health and safety legislation.
