Looking for a change which will make a difference in your community? Could you be our next senior engagement and consultation officer working within our friendly, top-class communications, marketing and engagement service and making resident’s voices count?

About us

This post is based in the communications, marketing and engagement service, which provides integrated communications, marketing, consultation and engagement advice and support across all service areas at Oxfordshire County Council.

About the role

The senior engagement and consultation officer will lead high profile consultation and engagement projects using a range of social research methodologies and tools and provide specialist advice to senior officers and councillors. If appointed, you will also assist the engagement and consultation manager in the strategic development of the service through the delivery of our consultation and engagement strategy.

To do this, you will work closely with service areas, partners – including councillors, health, city and district councils, the voluntary sector and user-led organisations – and with the wider communications, marketing and engagement team to ensure that activity is effective, safe, lawful, coordinated and complementary.

About you

We are looking for someone with a broad range of consultation and engagement experience, who has in-depth knowledge of different social research methodologies. The role will suit great communicators who are politically aware, with a focused attitude to delivery. You will bring energy and enthusiasm to lead and inspire by example, to promote the values of the council and to facilitate others to deliver their business objectives.

It really is true that every single job role here contributes to bettering the lives of the people in our county – we want to do this for our employees too. We are proud of our strong flexible working culture, including the opportunity for flexibility on working hours and the use of technology to support agile working. We offer some of the very best learning and development opportunities to support your ongoing development.

We have a generous holiday allowance of 24 days, which rises to 32 days as you remain in employment with us, as well as giving you the option to buy additional holiday. You will also have access to a Local Government Pension Scheme with employer contributions of up to 19.9 per cent of your salary; a range of local and national retail discounts; and a host of enhanced family friendly policies including carers leave and paid time off for volunteering.
