Working with the Assistant Director Growth and Place and Assistant Director Strategic Infrastructure & Planning you will be their Assistant and get involved in all aspects of their work.  Some of your main responsibilities will include: 


· Managing emails and diary. 

· Liaising with clients. 

· Conducting research and supporting projects.  

· Ensuring the Assistant Directors are prepared for meetings. 


Additionally, you work in a team to deliver integrated, customer focused services which improve outcomes for the people of Oxfordshire who use our services by: 


· Providing support to the Assistant Directors in their Leadership role, showing a broad understanding of their pressures and demands and the wider organisation (including partner agencies) in which they operate. 

· Supporting the Assistant Directors in the performance of their duties by being proactive, anticipating their needs and relieving them of administrative duties, showing initiative and working with minimum supervision. 

· To work as a team, enabling the Leadership Team to function smoothly, proactively and professionally.  

· Developing a network of internal and external contacts to enable effective horizon scanning and awareness of significant influences on the Directorate.  


We are looking for someone who:  


· Has a good level of experience in a similar role.  

· Has excellent communication, organisation, prioritisation and IT skills. 

· Is accurate in their work with excellent customer service with a drive for continuous improvement.  

· Has the ability to handle challenging and emotional situations and customers, working calmly under pressure.  

· Is capable of supporting projects, carrying out research and understanding and summarising complex information 

· Considers the demands of the role placed on the Assistant Directors as senior officers in Local Government and actively supports the Assistant Directors to meet expectations from the public and members.  

· Can appropriately chase and seek responses from other senior managers on the Assistant Director's behalf with confidence and competence  

· Has a problem solving mentality and the ability to ensure issues are anticipated, escalated and tackled proactively.  

· Works in partnership with the whole directorate and understands the reputational issues of handling contact to the Assistant Director's office from the pubic, other local/central government, members and partners.
