Hours per week: 37 - we are open to discussions about flexible working

About the role

 

This role is a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Finance Business Partner - Education to take a lead delivering finance business partnering to the education service. In the role you will support and challenge services to deliver better services, value for money and enable them to make sustainable, financial sound decision. You will be supporting the directorate by being an expert in education finance, including knowledge of the Dedicated Schools Grants and education funding, along with having a detailed knowledge of the services provided and leading the annual processes around allocation of funding linked to national and local strategies.

 

You should expect to work closely with Director’s, Leadership Teams, and Councillors to provide a supportive, challenging financial and decision making advice, driving efficiency, accountability, and commercial thinking across the council.

The Assistant Finance Business Partner - Education will be responsible for the line management of the Management Accountant – Education and Assistant Management Accountant - Education and shaping the wider support to the directorate.

 

 

About you

 

We are looking for a CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant, with experience in delivering a effective and modern finance business partnering service. If you aren’t fully qualified, we are looking for you to demonstrate significant relevant experience.

 

We are looking for someone who is inquisitive and able to constructively challenge, while building a trusted relationship with senior leaders. You will be able to see opportunities to dare to do things differently and see these through to completion.

 

You should be experienced at interpreting and implementing guidance, and we would be very interested to hear from anyone who has experience working within Education or Children’s Services settings who have existing knowledge of the intricacies of school and education funding.

 

You will be highly organised and be able to manage competing priorities and deadlines, while collaborating with other support services, and across finance and using contextual information to provide insight.
