Hours per week: 37- we are open to discussions about flexible working

About us

 

Children and Family Care Services supports children/young people aged 0 -18yrs who have a diagnosed disability and are open to the Disability Social work teams.

 

Our support includes providing domiciliary homecare, and short break opportunities.

 

 

About the role

 

You will be supporting young people who are non verbal, pre verbal or have limited language. The young people have moderate to severe learning difficulties, some may have autism and complex needs. They may also have additional diagnoses and exhibit challenging behaviours.

 

Within the role you may need to provide domiciliary personal care for the child in their own home. This can involve support with bathing, dressing, medical tasks and interventions for which child specific training will be provided.

 

You will also support young people to access leisure based community opportunities.

 

You will contribute to and attend meetings related to the young people you support, and be involved in support planning and risk assessments.

 

 

 

About you

 

The children and young people we support say you need to be “Fun, happy, kind and reliable”.

 

You will need to be, flexible, and adaptable with the ability to demonstrate a creative approach to working with children and young people who have a disability, alongside their parents and care givers. You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and engagement skills and be able to adapt your style and approach to each individual child and family.

 

You will need to be physically fit and after training able to support with physical interventions as a last resort if required, in order to prevent harm and keep the young person safe.
