The Role:

Joining our Financial Assessments and Benefits team as a Residential Officer, you’ll work in a role that is interesting, varied, and on occasions challenging, and be rewarded with a supportive and inclusive work environment.

The Financial Assessments and Benefits service is all about ensuring that Adults’ Health and Care service users know how much they may need to contribute towards their care and assisting them with benefits they may be entitled to claim.

Your role of Residential Officer will be to carry out financial assessments for vulnerable service users needing permanent residential care using the national Care Act legislation guidance.  This involves determining how much they will be required to contribute towards the cost of residential care services provided by Hampshire County Council, and explaining clearly how this was calculated.  You’ll also identify for them any welfare benefits they may be due.

Take a look at our Candidate Pack for more information about the role, team and our values.  The section ‘About you’ explains what specific knowledge, skills and experience we want you to tell us about.  Make sure you explain how you meet these requirements and demonstrate our values, in your application.

Using your excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise workloads, you’ll play a vital role in delivering great customer service.  With your ability and experience of dealing with upset or emotional responses, you’ll overcome objections in a calm and professional manner and be able to explain complex legislation as required.

With an inquisitive nature, high standard of accuracy and attention to detail, you’ll have the ability to be empathetic whilst remaining professional.  Confident working autonomously and in making decisions, you’ll also be willing to embrace the full use of digital technology.

We understand the demands and emotional challenges of the Residential Officer role. That’s why we provide our team with a positive, safe and supportive working environment. In return for your valuable contribution, we offer an extensive and competitive Benefits package.
