An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Professional to lead a team of H&S advisors and make a strategic impact at Hampshire County Council.

The Role:

The Health and Safety Business Partner will join the Organisational Resilience Service, which delivers the Council’s key risk and resilience activities. You will manage a team of experienced and qualified H&S advisors tasked with embedding Health and Safety (H&S) best practices across business areas by partnering with senior leaders. This is a newly created role, with the opportunity to shape the H&S systems and culture across a large organisation.

What you'll do:

You will build relationships with key stakeholders to embed H&S practices, partnering senior leaders to understand challenges and drive improvements. You will focus on driving positive H&S cultural change through engagement and influence.

You will provide sound H&S professional advice drawing on your extensive experience in industry, using data analysis to understand trends and risk profiling for H&S risks. Additionally, the role includes leading H&S/Risk working groups to address challenges and develop improvement procedures.

You will lead and manage the Corporate Health and Safety Team to ensure success across all H&S areas, delivering on a new team structure and way of working. You will ensure team practices are consistent with corporate direction and H&S regulations.

Finally you will drive team innovation by leveraging technology, AI, and automation within a new Corporate Model. You will Improve internal H&S communications and develop strategies to ensure key messages are understood by all staff, using evidence to design solutions, measure impact, and continuously improve.

What we’re looking for:

Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent level, you will bring a blend of H&S knowledge and experience with the ability to take people with you. You will use your strong stakeholder management skills to encourage ownership of H&S, your in-depth industry experience to provide professional advice and ability to drive change through innovation and continuous improvement.
