An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Professional to join a growing Corporate Health and Safety Team and play a part in making a strategic impact at Hampshire County Council.
The Role:
The Health and Safety Advisor is a key role within the Corporate Health and Safety Team, delivering the Council’s H&S management systems, policies and procedures.
You will join a small functional team of experienced and qualified H&S advisors, forming part of a wider Corporate Health and Safety Team tasked with embedding Health and Safety (H&S) best practices across the whole of the council. The successful candidate will use their industry knowledge and experience and their excellent judgement to ensure success within their functional area and the wider H&S team.
Qualified to NEBOSH Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent, you will use your professional judgement and experience to provide H&S advice to a wide range of senior leaders, as well as your ability to drive change through innovation and continuous improvement.
Although in-depth experience within the H&S profession is preferred, this could also be an excellent opportunity for an intelligent and motivated individual with the right qualifications to join a professional team working within an excellent organisation.
What you'll do:
The Health and Safety Adviser role will rotate around the four functional areas within the Corporate Health and Safety operating model. These functions include policy/procedure implementation, incident reporting, investigations and assurance activities. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to succeed across all functional areas.
The role will implement health and safety management systems and support on a range of topic areas across the council, including high-risk activities in highways, waste, schools and children’s services and adult’s health and care. This is a very varied role where you could find yourself responding to and triaging accident reports, undertaking formal H&S investigations, implementing and writing H&S policies, undertaking inspections and monitoring activities, as well as providing H&S advice to a wide range of stakeholders across all business areas.
