Assistant Client Affairs Officer (Adults' Health and Care)

The Role:

Our Client Affairs Team within Adults’ Health and Care provide a Deputyship and Appointeeship service of last resort for adults who have been assessed as lacking capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs.

 

As an Assistant Client Affairs Officer, you will provide support to a group of Client Affairs Officers who act on behalf, and in the best interests, of vulnerable adults, ensuring that their wellbeing and financial affairs are protected.

 

What you'll do:

  • Provide case management support to Client Affairs Officers, ensuring that clients income is maximised and their assets are safeguarded from abuse and exploitation.
  • Work closely with clients, their relatives, carers, and professional support to manage resources effectively to meet their needs and improve their quality of life.
  • Visit clients to develop and maintain effective relationships and gain insight into their needs and aspirations.

 

What we're looking for:

  • An awareness of benefits payable by the Department for Work and Pensions and other agencies, including eligibility and entitlement.
  • An understanding of the issues affecting people who lack capacity to manage their property and financial affairs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good numeracy, budgeting, and IT skills.
  • Confidence to work independently, organise and prioritise workload, and manage conflicting demands and deadlines.
  • Professional curiosity, creativity, and innovation to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
  • Confidence to challenge the accepted or expected view when advocating on behalf of clients.

Travel Requirements:
