The Role:

Are you ready to join our team of Library Team Managers?

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the culture and future of one of the busiest and most popular Library Services in the country. The Hampshire Library Service has 40 sites, which welcome over 4.8 million visitors to our facilities annually. We have a large team of core staff and volunteers delivering services both in person and across digital platforms.

Waterlooville Library is a large multi floored library and thriving community hub. The building hosts partners including Citizen’s Advice and Southern Health delivering services to the local community. A range of local groups meet in the library as well as community learning opportunities. A large programme of activities for children and families are offered. Engaging with local services and agencies is a key part of the role. The building requires significant health and safety and contractor management as well as implementing an extensive staff training programme to ensure all legislative responsibilities are met.

Our Library Team Managers work with internal and external partners, championing the role of each individual library to ensure they provide opportunities for people of all ages to explore, engage and discover. They actively seek out opportunities for income generation and focus on the health and wellbeing of customers. They lead staff and volunteers across one or more branches and are responsible for the management of their team while developing each branch to ensure it reaches its full potential.

As a Library Team Manager at one of our busiest branches, you will motivate your team to achieve the best outcomes. You will be innovative, creative, able to work under pressure but above all will be community and customer focused. You will be responsible for the management of health and safety across all the branches you are responsible for so experience in this area is important. The role will involve leading countywide projects linked to the service vision.

The role requires some weekend and occasional evening work.
