Salary Range: £23,115 - £24,140 pro-rata, per annum
Work Location: Hythe Library, Totton Library and surrounding libraries
Hours: 500 per annum
Contract Type: Temporary for 12 months (Annualised Hours)

Hampshire’s Library Service needs enthusiastic Library Team Assistants to join our busy and flexible teams. Your role will be to provide a welcoming environment for all, promote our services and facilities, plan and deliver activities for children and adults, assist with the management of stock, as well as carrying out a wide range of administrative duties.

You’ll be providing an excellent customer experience to everyone who visits our libraries and encouraging people to read a range of authors and book titles, download our apps to access eMagazines and eBooks /eAudiobooks and account options. You will take part in special promotions for adults and children, sign up for courses and events and using our IT facilities.

You will have a good general education combined with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a good standard of IT skills. You will embrace flexible working and be able to use your own initiative when required.

You will be required to travel between a small ‘cluster’ of libraries, so you will need to fulfil specific travel requirements which will be outlined at interview. Hours will be timetabled 4 weeks in advance and will include regular Saturday working and work throughout school holidays. There will also be a requirement to provide some cover for unplanned absences at short notice. 

A full induction and training programme will be provided and continued personal development is encouraged.
