Job Reference: HCC619706
Salary Range: £24,405 - £25,430 pro-rata, per annum
Work Location: Havant Library and surrounding libraries, Havant
Hours: 800 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent (Annualised Hours)
Closing Date: 24 January 2025
Interview Date: 5 February 2025

Do you enjoy working as part of a busy team, meeting and helping people of all ages and providing excellent customer service?

Hampshire's Library Service needs enthusiastic Annualised Hours Library Team Assistants to join our busy and flexible teams.  The annualised hours post is for 800 hours (equivalent to approximately 15 hours per week) spread across 52 weeks of the year. Working days and hours will vary weekly Monday–Saturday and would best suit a candidate with a flexible schedule, and salary is paid in equal monthly instalments.

Your role will be to provide a welcoming environment for all and support the already developing community hub concept in our libraries. You'll plan and deliver fun and engaging activities for children and adults as this is a fundamental part of the role. You'll work with partners to signpost customers when required.

You'll be providing an excellent customer experience to everyone who visits our libraries and encouraging more people to read a range of authors and book titles, download our apps for eMagazines and eBooks, take part in special promotions for adults and children, sign up for courses and events and help people using our IT facilities.

As well as this, you'll have a good general education combined with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a good standard of IT skills (ideally with some qualifications and experience) plus the ability to use your own initiative when required.

You will be required to travel between a 'cluster' of libraries, so you'll need to fulfil specific travel requirements which will be outlined at interview.

If you are looking to work in an innovative and customer focused role that is driven to improve outcomes for local communities, this may be the role for you. Some recent initiatives in our libraries include Ukraine connection support, supporting people with death and bereavement and domestic abuse.

A full induction and training programme will be provided.
