An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Care Leaver Personal Advisor to join our Refugee team at Hampshire County Council.
Channel your passion for working with care leavers to help asylum seeking young people as they transition from care into adulthood.
Our Refugee Service supports children and Care Leavers seeking safety in the UK, including separated children and unaccompanied minors from Ukraine. We also support children whose families have No Recourse to Public Funds.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join an evolving and creative team, where you can really make a difference, not only to our service, but to the lives of young people building a new life in the UK.
What makes this role unique is the team’s involvement in the entire end-to-end process, from the child’s arrival in the country and, following CLA procedures, the immediate assessments of age, risk, and trafficking, through to navigating the asylum system, supporting with the transition through to adulthood.
What you’ll do:
As a skilled professional, you will work in partnership with care leavers to assess their needs, create Pathway Plans, and support young people to meet their goals. Your work will align with agreed competencies, quality standards, and best practices in case and risk management. Additionally, you will arrange, provide, or procure appropriate services while ensuring compliance with legislation and statutory duties.
You will also collaborate with users, carers, relatives, and other agencies to identify current and future service requirements, contributing to service development within the scope of your role.
What we’re looking for:
To thrive in this role, you should be adept at assessing risks, needs and analysing information, together with the ability to build meaningful relationships with young people from vulnerable groups. You’ll need to demonstrate that you are proficient working with agencies, using your excellent negotiation and mediation skills.
We will also welcome your creative, flexible and forward-thinking approach, to complement and enhance our inspiring and motivated team.
As well as attending the team’s office base in Fareham, you will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire and further afield, so it is essential that you have a current drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
