Salary Range: £23,115 - £24,140 pro rata, per annum
Work Location: Eastleigh and Winchester Libraries
Hours per week: 15.5 hours, including every other Saturday morning 
Contract Type:  Permanent

The Role:

Hampshire’s Library Service needs enthusiastic Library Team Assistants to join our busy and flexible teams. Your role will be to provide a welcoming environment for all, promote our services and facilities, plan and deliver activities for children and adults, assist with the management of stock, as well as carrying out a wide range of administrative duties.

 
You’ll be providing an excellent customer experience to everyone who visits our libraries and encouraging people to read a range of authors and book titles, download our apps to   access eMagazines, eBooks, eAudiobooks and account options. You will take part in special promotions for adults and children, sign up for courses and events and using our IT facilities.
 
You will have a good general education combined with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a good standard of IT skills. You will embrace flexible working and be able to use your own initiative when required. Early years literacy is central to our library strategy and we are looking for team members with the confidence and enthusiasm to contribute to this work, with training and support. As part of this role you will be required to regularly lead a popular ‘Rhymetime’ songs and rhymes session for a large group of young children and their families, as well as delivering story sessions for under 5s and supporting with visits from primary schools and nurseries.


This post will be primarily be based at Eastleigh and Winchester Libraries, but you may also need to cover other local branches on an ad hoc basis.

 

This post will be an average of 15.5 hours per week across a two week rota:


Week 1: Tuesday 9.30-5 Winchester, Thursday 9-5 Eastleigh
Week 2: Monday 9-1.30 Winchester, Thursday 9-5 Eastleigh, Saturday 9-1.30 Eastleigh
