Graduate Social Worker Training Scheme HCC610979

Job Details:

Salary: £33,951 per annum plus £2,000 market supplement (actual salary £35,951 per annum) rising to £38,092 after successful completion of your ASYE
Work Location: Countywide, Hampshire
Hours per week: 37
Contract Type: Permanent

The Role:

Start your social work career in an OUTSTANDING Children’s Services team and be part of one of the top performing local authorities in the country

Our Children’s Services are undergoing unprecedented growth and are recruiting ambitious and forward-thinking Newly Qualified Social Workers to join our Graduate Entry Training Scheme (GETS). Our pioneering Scheme provides a two-year programme of support and learning, designed to ensure that you build the very best foundations in skills and confidence to equip you for the challenges of frontline social work.

You will join Hampshire with a cohort of other Graduate Trainees, initially undertaking an intensive 4-week induction period of high-quality training, before joining one of our district teams to complete your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).

During your ASYE, you will be fully supported with regular supervision, a dedicated Practice Educator and a comprehensive programme of learning and development. In addition, your caseloads will remain low throughout the year, increasing in line with your skills and confidence.

During the ASYE, we offer 11 structured development days, and you also have an additional 11 days for self-directed learning. This could include shadowing opportunities, visits to multi- agency partners, research or portfolio days. The second year of GETS is a Continuous Reflective Practice year and provides further professional development opportunities and Practice Educator support. Upon successful completion of GETS (year 1 & 2) you may be entitled to a £3,000 one-off payment.

With a very competitive starting salary and great benefits, it’s an exciting time to join us. The Hampshire Approach, our strengths-based approach to delivery, is transforming the way we work with children and families, and as an Outstanding (Ofsted 2019) Children’s Service, we are revolutionising our processes to allow social workers greater flexibility in their work.

Strong collaborative working relationships and a network of multi-agency hubs means that this is the ideal place to begin your social work journey.

We are now recruiting NQSWs for start dates in August and October 2024, for those recently qualified and those who are in their final placement.

We encourage applicants to apply early. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us via GETS@hants.gov.uk

How do I apply?

Applications are open now with interviews and assessment days held on a rolling basis.

You are welcome to apply whilst your social work qualifications are in progress, and you will be able to state on your application when you may expect to receive them. If successful at interview you will be asked which cohort you would like to join depending on vacancy availability.

In your application, we want to hear about your social work placements and the learning that you have gained from those and any previous experiences. The Job Description and Person Specification for the role highlights the skills and strengths we are looking for, so please read it carefully prior to completing your application. We are also happy to see any additional information you might want to give in a CV or Cover Letter.

Please note:

You must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role. Generally, this means that you will require a full driving licence and access to a car, but reasonable adjustments to this requirement will be considered to cater for a declared disability.

If you hold a provisional licence but have not yet passed your test you are welcome to apply and will be interviewed if shortlisted. If successful at interview you will be offered a conditional place with a start date delayed for a maximum of 6 months to allow you to pass your driving test.

We currently cannot provide certificates of sponsorship for these roles.

Vetting Requirements:

This role is subject to a Criminal Records Check. As such, and as per safer recruitment requirements for Children's Services, references will be requested prior to interview.
