The Role:

As an Elective Home Education (EHE) Visitor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that every child receives the education they deserve. Within the Inclusion Support Service, we’re committed to supporting families who choose to home educate their children, and we work closely with them to ensure that children who are being electively home educated receive a suitable and effective full-time education. Much of our work is carried out in the north of the county, so if you're based in this area or happy to travel to this area, that would be a plus. 

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing guidance and advice: Work with families to ensure the education provided is suitable and promote skills and learning.
  • Assessing and advising: Assess, advise, and promote the development of EHE children’s education, including those with special educational needs.
  • Planning and conducting visits: Plan and carry out visits with families, develop action plans, manage your timetable in liaison with the EHE Co-ordinator, and provide visit reports for the family.
  • Multidisciplinary approach: Use a multidisciplinary approach to fulfil the Local Authority’s statutory duty to ensure no child is missing education, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and government guidance.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualifications & experience: A-level qualification (or equivalent) and experience working with children, young people, and families.
  • Interpersonal & communication skills: Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and ability to handle difficult situations through mediation and negotiation.
  • Organisational & problem-solving skills: Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Values & empathy: Commitment to equality and inclusion, honesty, integrity, and empathy.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in IT (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Travel Requirements:
