The Role:

Are you interested in being part of an innovative, valued and friendly EP service which carries out a wide range of activities and projects that have a positive impact for children, young people, families and education providers?

Hampshire Educational Psychology is continuing to experience increasing demand for traded and local authority work and is ready to appoint more educational psychologists.

EPs enjoy working in Hampshire because of the variety of the work, the opportunities to work creatively in schools and colleges, the warm welcome we receive in our settings, and the relationships that we build. Whether you are looking for your first post or contemplating a change of work context, your career will flourish. We have a national reputation for innovation and there are many opportunities to work collaboratively. Our practice keeps children and families at the heart of what we do, whether through assessment approaches, consultation or person-centred planning. We continue to support the professional development of staff in schools and across the county via delivery of training and through group supervision arrangements.

Recently appointed EP colleagues have told us they particularly value: the wealth of experience and knowledge across the large service, the strong supportive ethos (including the helpful induction process, regular access to individual and peer supervision and peer review feedback for reports), the enthusiasm around use of person-centred planning and dynamic assessment approaches, and the opportunities for high quality cpd that are regularly available.

We are commissioned by Children’s Services to undertake the educational psychology statutory duties for children and young people, aged 0-25. We also have a very strong trading relationship with schools, academies and colleges enabling a wide variety of supportive and preventive early intervention practice. We make a significant contribution to children’s social care working with adoptive families and offering consultation in residential children’s homes and training for staff.

If your application is successful, you will become a well-included member of one of HIEP’s four area teams, located in our local offices in Hampshire: Basingstoke, Farnborough, Winchester and Havant. Our teams are key in maintaining our service culture and ethos and are an important focus for emotional support and professional development through sharing knowledge and experience.

Our conditions of service, including regular supervision, professional development, and dedicated administrative support, are exactly what you would expect of a local authority and a service that values people highly.

Applications are welcome from both experienced EPs registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and those in both their second and final year of training. HIEP is an organisation that is committed to inclusivity and diversity. We look forward to hearing from you.

Some comments recently received via a cross-county school survey: “EP guidance has directly impacted our provision for individual children and supported staff understanding of children’s needs” “HIEP helps us to look at things in a different way and their expertise is fantastic” “The service delivered is always of a high standard.”
