This department is responsible for housing, communities and improving the lives of local residents.  This includes landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, and advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes.
A significant part of our work is focused on creating stronger communities, by working together with local residents on recovery following the Grenfell tragedy.  

In response to London’s affordable homes crisis, we are committed to building more social housing to help people on lower incomes to live, work, and raise their families in the borough. The Role:

You’ll lead the Estates Services Team to deliver a high-quality external environment with a strong emphasis on customer service and engagement. You will support and motivate your team to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.


You’ll have responsibility for: 

  • Maintaining a safe and clean external environment on estates and other locations, ensuring that communal repairs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, data governance, regulatory standards, internal processes and protocols, and in particular health & safety provisions.
  • Effective contract management and ensuring VFM value for money is obtained across all areas of responsibility.
  • Working in partnership across the Council to achieve positive outcomes for residents.

About You:

You’ll have excellent team management and organisational skills, able to demonstrate a commitment to delivering a quality and outcome driven service, contributing to the delivery of an excellent Housing service.


You’ll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a ‘can do’ attitude.


The ability to support and motivate your team will be key, as will the ability to be calm under pressure.


You’ll be able to work to tight timescales and be good at problem solving.

Role Requirements:

The successful candidate will have: 


  • Experience of managing estates services in a residential context.
  • Experience of procurement and contract management.
  • Supervisory and / or management experience.
  • A thorough knowledge of RIDDOR and COSHH provisions as well as Health & Safety at Work legislation.
  • Experience of working with residents and other stakeholders to successfully co design and improve services.
  • Knowledge of common, minor and communal repairs.
  • Knowledge and experience of Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Experience of managing budgets effectively.



We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs.
