An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for the Pipeline and Programmes Team in Property Services at Hampshire County Council.
We invite you to bring your expertise to priority and high-profile areas of work that support Property Services’ vision: “Delivering great public value outcomes through one integrated Property Team, valuing our customers and staff.”
Property Services is a 400-strong multi-disciplinary team that works for Hampshire County Council and partner organisations, other local authorities, and public bodies across the south-east region. We shape, design, deliver, maintain, and operate buildings and sites that provide key public services and places for the communities they serve.
A leading enabler of public value across Hampshire, we provide clients with a full range of services including consultancy, design, operational property services, programme and project management and delivery, estates development, print services, facilities management, and procurement solutions to support these activities.
We have strong values and a culture of commitment, collaboration, professionalism, and empathy, with the ability to work in an agile way.
The Role:
You will join the Pipeline and Programmes Team, Property Services’ core programme office, which has a strong track record of shaping and managing programmes and projects of varying scale and complexity. In partnership with our clients, we shape and lead programmes and projects to deliver their objectives, working across project teams and bringing together multi-disciplinary teams to support a consistent framework for delivery.
Our approach to project management blends the implementation of effective project management tools (risk management, programme planning, reporting and governance) with well-developed soft skills, including strong communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership ability.
What you’ll do:
As part of our team, you will work closely with programme planners. Our programme planners work effectively with stakeholders to establish project and master programme plans that provide a clear roadmap for delivery. We have delivered projects and programme plans across a number of areas, including capital construction, transformation, decarbonisation, and strategic land.
What we’re looking for:
You will already have worked in a programme or project environment and be driven, with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a flexible approach to a varied workload. You will be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team and manage through ambiguity to bring structure and direction. In addition to excellent organisational and communication skills, you will have the relevant expertise to support our programmes of work, along with the focus and drive to deliver customer objectives.
Experience of working in a local government or associated environment is not essential. However, demonstrating an understanding of local government or the public sector would be an advantage.
Why join us?
We provide a supportive environment in which to learn and develop, with the opportunity to further your skills and career within an exciting and evolving organisation. We offer a variety of training opportunities, depending on your development needs, and provide a range of staff benefits.
Our benefits package includes details of holiday entitlement, pension scheme, flexi-time scheme, family-friendly policies, and interest-free travel loans and discounts. We offer a flexible, motivating, and inclusive workplace and have created an environment you can look forward to being part of, where you are empowered to be your best. It is a workplace built on teamwork, where people can grow and develop in their roles.
