Hampshire County Council are seeking a motivated, aspiring IT professional to join our established team as an IT Support Technician.

You will play a key role in the support of our IT service by providing a professional front line service to our customers, contributing to problem resolution as well as the development and implementation of new systems and services.

We are looking for individuals who are ambitious, proactive and can offer a great deal of potential. You will have excellent communication skills and a logical approach to problem solving. Ideally you will have experience with Microsoft Technologies and Networking but training can be provided to a technically minded individual with a passionate interest in working with new technology.

Our IT support team plays an important customer facing role and is central to ensuring the continuing successful delivery of a wide variety of technical solutions across the County. Role Responsibilities:

•    To provide a professional service to our customers by delivering and maintaining effective and efficient IT Service delivery to agreed service levels for Incidents and Service requests
•    Responding to alerts and other management tools that monitor the HCC server estate 
•    Proactive server and domain management
•    Involvement in technical discussions and problem resolution 
•    Liaising with, and maintaining clear communication lines with colleagues, including support teams, Service Desk and Problem Management, to ensure an effective and collaborative approach.
•    Produce procedures, technical documentation and training material when required.
•    Assist team leader in development of new systems and services.
•    Undertake routine office tasks e.g. management of support mailbox, maintenance, housekeeping 
•    Taking a keen interest in new technologies and trends that can enhance the IT services delivered to customers. 

Role Requirements:

  • Good standard of general education
  • Ability to identify, analyse and solve problems in a logical and effective way
  • Excellent interpersonal skills combined with an enthusiastic and self-motivated approach. 
  • Ability to organise, plan and manage your own individual workload. 
  • Ability to produce clear verbal / written instructions and accurate, understandable documentation for colleagues as well as non-IT specialists.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately to deadlines whilst remaining polite and calm under pressure.
  • Ability to quickly absorb information and a keen interest in new technologies/solutions
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to have difficult conversations and negotiate and influence to achieve a positive outcome

Desirable

Exposure to relevant technologies including:

•    Citrix Technology (Client Side)
•    Microsoft Windows Server 2008/ 2012/ 2016
•    Microsoft Intune
•    Local and Wide Area Networks
•    Microsoft Office 365
•    Microsoft Azure

Desirable qualifications:

•    Formal industry recognised qualifications such as MCSE.
