In this role, you will work on a diverse range of property matters that directly support the delivery of public services and the effective management of public assets.

From acquiring land for community projects to enabling strategic developments and supporting the use of County Council property, your work will contribute to projects that have a lasting impact on Hampshire's residents, organisations and communities.

What you’ll do:

As a Commercial Property Lawyer, you will:

  • Work closely with client departments, public sector partners and other stakeholders to find practical, solution-focused outcomes.
  • Manage a varied caseload including acquisitions, disposals, leases, easements, licences, deeds of covenant and other commercial property transactions.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and helping develop less experienced team members.
  • Help ensure that legal services are delivered to a high standard, balancing legal risk with organisational objectives and public value.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for someone who combines strong legal expertise with a commitment to public service and collaborative working.

You will be:

  • A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer (Fellow of CILEX) with a current practising certificate in England and Wales.
  • Experienced in commercial property law and capable of managing a varied property caseload.
  • Able to demonstrate sound legal judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
  • An effective communicator who can build positive, trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Motivated, resilient and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Committed to working collaboratively and contributing positively to team success.
  • Someone who values diversity of thought, inclusive working practices and continuous learning.
  • Passionate about delivering excellent public services and making a positive difference through your work.

Why join us?

You will join a highly regarded, Lexcel-accredited legal service, recognised for delivering high-quality legal advice across Hampshire and beyond.

This is an opportunity to work on interesting and challenging property matters that support the delivery of public services and contribute to the effective stewardship of public assets. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team where professional development is encouraged and achievements are recognised.

This is an exciting and defining moment for local government and for Hampshire County Council as it works towards Local Government Re-organisation. By joining now, you will:

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, enabling you to balance your professional responsibilities with life outside work.
  • A strong commitment to wellbeing and work-life balance.
  • A supportive learning and development culture that encourages career progression.
