An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Apprentice Technician to join our Contracts and Construction team at Hampshire County Council.

As a Highway Technician, you will be assisting engineers in delivering a large variety of highway schemes throughout Hampshire, enabling the efficient running and delivery of the capital schemes.

What you’ll do:

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality highway projects.

You’ll be at the heart of ensuring works are carried out safely, to specification, and on time. Your responsibilities will include monitoring contractors’ activities, maintaining accurate records, and addressing any issues promptly to keep projects on track. You’ll also manage contract administration, ensuring obligations are met and performance standards upheld. Regular site visits will give you hands-on involvement in works in progress, while your communication skills will help you build positive relationships with the public, contractors, and local councils.

In addition, you’ll support the financial management of major capital schemes, contributing to projects worth up to £20 million. If you’re detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about delivering excellence, this role offers a chance to make a real impact.

What we’re looking for:

This position provides an opportunity for you to attend training and complete a Level 3 Civil Engineer Technician apprenticeship, to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours as set out in the apprenticeship standard.
