The Role:

Having been awarded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted this is an exciting time to join us. There has been considerable investment in our workforce and fostering service which has created a positive environment for our social workers to make a difference and achieve change for our most vulnerable children and fostering families through direct relationship-based social work practice. We support our staff to understand systemic theoretical framework and models underpinning our interventions; to have access to the right tools, equipment and resources; and, the right supervision, training and learning opportunities they need to be strong practitioners.

This is an amazing time to join the Fostering service as there are many new and exciting developments taking place and it is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic, supportive, and friendly team. Be a fundamental part of ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people by supporting and supervising foster carers and connected carers who provide children with a safe, stable and permanent home environment.

As a supervising Social Worker with experience of working with children and families, you will be working with fostering families to provide support and supervision to the foster carers under the requirements of the Fostering Regulations 2011 and insuring they remain in line with the National minimum standards in fostering.

You will also be expected to cover a duty phone line when required and respond to calls which may include the need for a visit to foster carers. You will need to be able to produce high quality, analytical and reflective supervision records and household review reports.

Flexibility in working hours is sometimes required. This means you may need to work outside of standard business hours on occasion. However, with support from your manager, you will be able to adjust your working pattern to make sure it fits your home life and still meet the needs of the carers you will be assessing.
We are a motivated and enthusiastic team and as such, you will be encouraged to make the most of our commitment to flexible working arrangements, which includes the chance to work from home or the office environment.

As you will be working with families across a large geographical area, you must also be able to meet the travel requirements of the role. On occasion, you will need to complete the supervision of foster carers in other parts of the country and this may include overnight stays or long-distance travel.

We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people as diversity is key to our success. Therefore, if you are enthusiastic and creative with the commitment to help support fostering families turn lives around for children whilst working within occasional tight timescales, we would be delighted to welcome you to our friendly and inclusive team.
