The Role:
Bird Aware Solent is looking for a Community Engagement Ranger to join it’s friendly and passionate team. The rangers raise awareness of the importance of coastal birds within the Solent’s three Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and encourage responsible recreation on the coast.
What you’ll do:
The focus of this role will be providing a positive and engaging presence on the coast, speaking with visitors of all ages and backgrounds to encourage responsible behaviour through supportive, face to face engagement.
In addition, the post holder will also organise and deliver the Bird Aware event programme across all areas of the Solent region, including attendance at public events, talks and guided walks.
What we’re looking for:
Candidates must therefore have excellent face-to-face communication skills and be especially confident in striking up good rapport with people of all ages and backgrounds to encourage positive behaviour change.
A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes are essential.
Please note this role is based on the Isle of Wight and will involve regular travel to the mainland.
