Job Details:

Salary range: £13.39 - £14.95 per hour 

Work location: Cranleigh Paddock 

Hours per week: Various 

Contract type: Casual

The Role:

 

We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced individual to join our care home management team at Cranleigh Paddock on a casual basis.

Your strong leadership skills will ensure the effective and efficient management of the unit, as the most senior member of staff on duty, you’ll demonstrate skills for managing staff and taking responsibility for the safety and welfare of residents as well as the maintenance of the building on a day to day basis.

 

You will need to demonstrate experience in working with older people and have at least NVQ2 in care (or equivalent), working shifts which include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Role Responsibilities:

 


Managing Staff


•    The postholder will directly line manage carers to monitor performance, training needs & provide leadership.
•    Use all HCC HR policies in order to manage staff.

 

Organisation and Problem Solving


•    The postholder will take a management lead on each shift as designated by the Registered Manager.
•    The postholder will assist in problem solving and take responsibility for decisions made in the absence of the Registered Manager.

 

Setting and Monitoring Standards


•    Assist in developing a culture of continuous quality improvements. This will require regular monitoring of care given by staff.
•    Ensure care is delivered in line with standards set within the home.
•    Use Care Governance framework for reporting and monitoring care delivery.
•    Monitor against minimum standards (Care Standards Act 2000) and ensure that both care plans and medication charts are fully, and correctly, completed.

 

Liaison / Service Development


•    Assist the Registered Manager in representing the service to visitors and other agencies to promote positive relationships, effective consultation and partnership working.
•    Respond to concerns raised and report issues to line manager.
•    Help to develop the service through working with the staff and management team.

 

External Relationships


•    Work to develop effective relationships with those visitors from other agencies, e.g., health, and also other HCC staff who visit the home.

 

Corporate and statutory initiatives – equalities / health & safety / e-government / sustainability


•    Role model own conduct and monitor the behaviour of staff to promote equalities in recruitment and service provision.
 

Role Requirements:

 


•    NVQ Level 2, or equivalent, in a care related subject.
•    It is essential that you have substantial experience of working in a relevant health or care setting.
•    Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
•    Evidence of ability to work with residents / clients and relatives to problem solve.
•    Basic IT skills.
•    Knowledge of the national minimum standards for Care Homes.
•    Experience of working effectively with Older People.
•    Evidence of effective team working to achieve delivery of change or service development.
•    The ability to lead a team on a shift.
•    An understanding of the need for staff supervision.
•    Evidence of ability to use initiative and problem solve.
