Do you want to play a supporting role in helping children in Hampshire?

We are looking for an IT Technician to join our Specialist Teacher Advisory (STA) Service to source and maintain specialist IT software and hardware for children across Hampshire who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, and speech and language needs.

Based in Havant, and working across Hampshire, you’ll prepare, maintain and troubleshoot the IT equipment assigned to the pupils to support their needs and to improve their educational outcomes.

Using your knowledge of different software and hardware solutions, and your experience of providing IT support within schools, you’ll take effective and realistic actions. You’ll be highly organised with effective communication skills, and strict regard for confidentiality. Most importantly, you’ll be driven to see the children flourish.

Please note that you’ll cover an extensive area of Hampshire, therefore you must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role. Generally, this means that you will require a full driving licence and access to a car, but reasonable adjustments to this requirement will be considered to cater for a declared disability.

 

What does a typical day look like?

  • Applying knowledge of specialist software and hardware to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Sourcing, installing and updating software and hardware, including MS Office and specialist software
  • Keeping up to date with specialist equipment and software on the market
  • Delivering equipment to pupils and providing training as appropriate
  • Maintaining equipment and disposing of unusable laptops
  • Applying knowledge of networks and domains in schools to setup Wi-Fi, network and printer access.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of providing IT support within schools, supporting both staff and pupils
  • Knowledge of a range of software and hardware, including Operating Systems; Windows 10, 8.1 & 7, Apple and Chrome
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to engage and encourage young people.
  • Ability to use initiative to solve day-to-day problems as they arise within given parameters
  • Highly organised and the ability to manage time and conflicting demands effectively
  • A commitment to confidentiality
  • IT qualification (Desirable)
