Stubbington Study Centre is a well-respected outdoor education facility located on the beautiful Hampshire coast. Each week during term time, the Centre welcomes over 100 primary-aged pupils for enriching residential and day experiences, with additional groups visiting during school holidays. For many children, it’s their first time away from home, an opportunity to build confidence, create lasting memories, and deepen their learning through hands-on, outdoor activities. At other times of the year the Centre hosts a variety of different types of visitors who make use of this wonderful space. The Centre features a variety of wildlife habitats, outdoor learning spaces, and play areas, all designed to inspire curiosity and connection with nature.
The Role:
We are currently seeking a committed and experienced Site Manager to lead our site team in maintaining and enhancing our beautiful 14-acre grounds and facilities. This pivotal role ensures the Centre remains clean, safe, secure, and fully operational at all times, in full compliance with health and safety standards. You’ll play a key part in supporting the Centre’s day-to-day operations, enhancing the experience of staff and visitors, and contributing to a positive, well-maintained learning environment.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and training
- Maintain the site’s grounds and facilities to a high standard year-round
- Manage cleaning operations and ensure high hygiene standards across the site
- Supervise contractors and support site development projects
- Support logistics for events, deliveries, and day-to-day operations
- Lead a small team of cleaning and grounds staff
- Act as the principal keyholder and first responder for site security and emergency call-outs
- Operate site machinery and hand tools
- Carry out and coordinatie routine maintenance and minor repairs
What we’re looking for:
We're seeking a proactive and organised individual with experience in site and health & safety management, who can confidently lead staff and contractors while maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-maintained environment. You'll have strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, a positive, team-focused approach, and the ability to undertake physical tasks, including manual handling and equipment operation. A good understanding of safeguarding and working in environments with children and young people is essential.
Ideally, you'll also hold relevant Health & Safety qualifications, such as IOSH or First Aid training, have experience using grounds maintenance equipment, possess good IT skills for record-keeping and compliance, and have worked within an educational or youth-focused setting.
