This is an exciting opportunity to join our inspiring team to help manage and continue to develop the day visit programme offered to schools.


We have established a high-quality day visit offer for KS1&2 children which is proving popular with a wide range of schools across the region. The number of such visits during term time have steadily increased recently and we are looking for someone to continue this trend. 
You will be responsible to plan, deliver and review high quality day courses that bring learning to life and support schools in delivery of the curriculum, whilst meeting booking targets to help ensure the continued success of our self-funded facility. 
When not working with the day visit group, you will be undertaking admin activities associated with the role and working with the wider education team, delivering our service to the residential groups on site.


We're looking for someone who has recent experience of working with KS1&2 pupils in the classroom and in outdoor settings. It’s essential that you have a good understanding of the value of learning beyond the classroom - particularly in a residential setting.
You will also be someone who uses their initiative and can help to keep this centre a top venue for ‘learning outside the classroom’.

Please note, a job of a similar nature for a 0.6 contract is currently available at our sister Centre – Minstead Study Centre. Each of these job campaigns are being run separately, with separate application and interview, though it would be possible for the right candidate to undertake both roles if that was of interest. Your duties will include:
  • Teach the planned programmes across a range of activity areas on and off-site (indoors and outside and in any weather conditions).
  • Show high regard for the Health and Safety of visitors and others during all teaching programmes. Provide first aid support where necessary.
  • Plan, prepare, evaluate and maintain activities, materials and resources to support courses; develop and extend the learning provision where appropriate, in liaison with the Deputy Head of Centre.
  • Contribute to the marketing, promotion and developing of the service.
  • Provide basic domestic, administrative and site support to a wide range of users when necessary in order to ensure high levels of customer service and safety.
  • Ensure clear communications with colleagues, users, contractors and others in order to facilitate the smooth running of the service.
  • Use own initiative and react flexibly to manage risk in changing conditions without resort to line manager – for example when working off site, outdoors with a group of children.
  • Understand and implement centre risk management procedures and policies in order to ensure that users, staff and visitors are safe.Manage the booking process for Day Visits, including responding to customer enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Hampshire County Council policies and safeguarding procedures and that concerns are addressed in accordance with these.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Graduate level qualification in related field or specialism (e.g. teaching, environmental Science, Geography).
  • Experience of effective teaching/instructing KS1 or KS2 pupils within an outdoor context.
  • Excellent teaching skills.
  • Recent classroom experience or evidence of having kept up to date with current issues in mainstream education.
  • Clear understanding of the value of learning beyond the classroom.
  • Awareness of risk management techniques in the outdoors.
  • Experience of having successfully led and directed other staff or adults.
  • Excellent communication skills and organisational skills.
  • High level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to work with initiative and as a team player.
  • Ability to develop resources.
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues.
  • Knowledge of/experience of delivering excellent customer care and client services.
Working Conditions:
  • Assisting with our centre Open Days one Saturday each term (10am-4pm).
  • TOIL (Time off in lieu) system operated.
  • Typically working with KS2 children. However, day visit groups can range from YR to Y6.
  • Activity group size up to 36 children.
  • Work from home may be required to respond to booking enquiries from customers.
