Are you ready to join our team of Library Team Managers?

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the culture and future of one of the busiest and most popular Library Services in the country. The Hampshire Library Service has 40 sites, which welcome over 4.8 million visitors to our facilities annually. We have a large team of core staff and volunteers delivering services both in person and across digital platforms.

Our Library Team Managers work with internal and external partners, championing the role of each individual library to ensure they provide opportunities for people of all ages to explore, engage and discover.  They actively seek out opportunities for income generation and focus on the health and wellbeing of customers.  
They lead staff and volunteers across one or more branches and are responsible for the management of their team while developing each branch to ensure it reaches its full potential.  

As a Library Team Manager at one of our busiest branches (Fareham), you will motivate your team to achieve the best outcomes. You will be innovative, creative, able to work under pressure but above all will be community and customer focused. You will be responsible for the management of health and safety across all the branches you are responsible for so experience in this area is important.  The role will involve leading countywide projects linked to the service vision.

In addition to the above, the Library Team Manager for Havant and Leigh Park Libraries will work across 2 sites, at times managing teams remotely. You will be skilled in working with partners and agencies, you will have a strong community focus, advocating for the libraries and developing services which meet community need.

The role requires some weekend and evening work.

Fareham Library
Fareham library has successfully developed into a thriving community hub. The priority will be to continue to develop partner relationships within the building. Engaging with local services is a key part of the role and continuing to build on the developing work with children and families. The building is multi-floored so requires significant health and safety and contractor management as well as implementing an extensive staff training programme to ensure all legislative responsibilities are met.

Havant Library
Havant Library, located in the Meridian Shopping Centre, is a popular and busy branch. The library supports many local groups as well as providing extensive support to customers who are digitally excluded. Maintaining the relationship with The Meridian Centre management is key as well as with building partners.

Leigh Park Library
Leigh Park Library is located in one of most deprived areas of Hampshire. The priority will be to promote the library within the community, work with partners, and increase engagement.
Staff in Havant and Leigh Park work across multiple sites so strong leadership and interpersonal skills are essential.
