Stubbington Study Centre is a very popular facility that delivers residential learning opportunities, outside the classroom to primary school aged children. Accommodating over 100 children per week during term-time, the centre provides children, who are often on their first trip away from home, with wonderful experiences that stay with them for a lifetime, building confidence and bringing classroom learning to life.

The Role:

We are looking for a Domestic Assistant to support the Catering Officer and Cook in providing a high-quality catering service to all clients of the centre. With flexibility and good time-management skills, you'll assist in the preparation and serving of foods and refreshments, working to the highest standards of food hygiene. The hours will generally be 4pm to 7pm Monday to Thursday and 11am to 2pm on Friday.

What you’ll do:

We’re seeking someone who can support the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments for around 100 children and 18 staff, while keeping the kitchen clean, organised and hygienic at all times. You’ll help maintain safe storage of food and equipment, prepare and tidy dining areas for children and visitors, and ensure all hygiene records are accurately kept. A commitment to meeting customer needs, communicating effectively with the team and contributing to smooth daily operations is essential. You will also take part in staff meetings and training, and consistently follow all relevant policies and procedures, including those relating to cleaning equipment and materials.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who can play an active role in preparing and serving food and refreshments for around 100 children and 18 staff, while maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment. You’ll support safe storage of food and equipment, help prepare and tidy dining areas, and ensure high standards of food hygiene with accurate record‑keeping.

Providing a positive experience for customers, communicating well within the team and contributing to the efficient running of the kitchen are all essential. You should bring strong teamwork skills, basic food safety knowledge, experience of kitchen cleaning and good time‑management.

Flexibility and a willingness to take on additional duties are also important. It would be an advantage if you hold a Foundation Certificate in Food Safety, have training in allergens, or experience working in a busy, non‑domestic kitchen. Experience of cooking for children or adults, supporting colleagues, understanding customer care and having knowledge of portion or stock control would also be beneficial.
