The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join the established EMTAS Teacher Advisor Team. The purpose of the role is two-fold:

  • to improve educational outcomes and remove barriers for children and young people from Black, Minority Ethnic (BME) and Traveller heritages, including those at various stages of acquiring English as an Additional Language (EAL).
  • to remove barriers/improve participation by parents/carers in their children’s education.
     

You’ll mainly be working at strategic level with staff in schools across Hampshire, providing training and support to schools to improve practice and provision for children and young people from Black, Minority Ethnic and Traveller heritages, including those at various stages of acquiring English as an Additional Language.

You will also work directly with children and families from time to time, particularly around assessment of EAL/SEND, offering bespoke guidance and advice.

You will be able to work on your own initiative and possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and have the ability to motivate others.  You will seek opportunities to promote the innovative work of EMTAS in Hampshire and beyond.

You will contribute to the analysis and interpretation of county-wide and national data and local/national knowledge to ensure that support is targeted effectively where practice or outcomes require development/improvement. You will also work with schools to carry out data analyses to inform training, development and support, thereby establishing impact.

You will contribute to the on-going development of the work of the EMTAS Specialist Teacher Advisor Team.  You will also contribute to the training of the wider EMTAS team and to the development of resources, taking the lead for a particular area of specialism.
