Help Shape Hampshire’s Natural Spaces.
Are you passionate about the outdoors, wildlife, and making a real difference in your community?
Join the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership (BVCP) and play a vital role in creating, enhancing, and maintaining high-quality natural spaces for communities across Hampshire. Working alongside local authorities, parish councils, and environmental partners, BVCP delivers a wide range of conservation and greenspace projects and we’re looking for a dedicated Ranger to join the team.
The Role:
As a Ranger, you’ll be at the heart of hands-on conservation work focused around the River Blackwater. This is an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, help protect biodiversity, and connect people with nature.
You’ll support day-to-day site management as well as larger environmental projects, working both independently and collaboratively. You’ll also occasionally contribute across wider services, including projects with the North Sites Team and along the Basingstoke Canal.
If you're ready to help protect and enhance Hampshire’s countryside while inspiring others to connect with nature, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver practical conservation and land management work (habitat management, vegetation clearance, path maintenance, site improvements)
- Support the planning and delivery of environmental and greenspace projects within an urban setting
- Supervise and coordinate volunteers, community groups, and contractors
- Monitor biodiversity, site conditions, and project outcomes
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely
- Engage with the public to promote responsible enjoyment of nature
- Assist with events, activities, and educational sessions
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times
- Support reporting, record-keeping, and project updates
- Collaborate across teams to support shared environmental goals
What we’re looking for:
We’re seeking a practical experienced individual who thrives working in the outdoors and enjoys working with people from all backgrounds.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in countryside management, conservation, or similar
- Practical habitat management skills and confidence using tools/machinery
- Strong communication skills and experience working with volunteers
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisation, attention to detail, and IT skills
- A flexible, proactive, problem-solving mindset
- A passion for nature, conservation, and community engagement
- A full driving licence
This is a physical, outdoor role with varied and rewarding challenges.
Why join us?
Join us and help create a greener future for generations to come.
