Location – Winchester Workshops

Salary - PO1 -  £40,893.00 - £43,920.00 Per Annum 

Hours – 37 Hours per week  

Contract – Permanent  

Closing date –  Sunday 15th June 2025 at 23.59 hours 


ABOUT THE ROLE


To Manage the vehicle workshop to ensure it provides an efficient and 

cost effective service.

 
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:


1. To plan and implement weekly schedules for vehicles and items of 
plant, including informing users of workshop bookings.

2. To supervise and motivate all workshop staff, monitoring productivity 
and checking timesheets. To ensure wellbeing opportunities are made 
available when identified and required. 

3. To use the Fleet Management system and make effective use of Fleet 
IT Systems in order to promote efficient & effective working which 
includes closing job cards & making sure the data is accurate.

4. To lead by example with adherence to Force Policy on Health and 
Safety and to comply with legislation and standards of "good practice". 
To ensure Transport Department Risk assessments are complied with.

5. To provide technical assistance to workshop technicians and to liaise 
where necessary with the workshop Technical Co-ordinator and the 
Fleet Manager. To gain qualifications to manage the servicing, 
maintenance and repair alternative fuel vehicles

6. To carry out vehicle road tests when necessary.

Essential Qualifications 

Educated to QCF Level 4 plus
City and Guilds 383 in motor vehicle mechanics with credits or 
merits or NVQ level 3 in vehicle repair and servicing

 Essential Experience 

Significant recent experience running a vehicle workshop 

dealing with a multiplicity of car and light commercial vehicle 
types or recent, extensive experience of servicing maintenance 
dealing with a multiplicity of cars and light commercial vehicles 
together with evidence of having responsibility for staff 
supervision.
